Default Fishing with the grand kids

My Louisiana grandkids were in town and all three said they wanted to go fishing with Pawpaw and Uncle Jeff so we made a plan to fish a local lake with a nice public beach. 8 year old Brantley went with us early in the morning and ran the trolling rods like a pro, landing a nice mix of crappie, gills and bass. He also hit the snack bag like a pro, devouring most of his rations before we were half way around the lake. Next up was 2 year old CJ who we picked up at the beach when we dropped his brother off. We bobber fished with him and landed quite a few nice bluegills. Being we already had more than enough most were released with CJ telling them"bye bye fishy, go see your mommy and daddy and puppy." Our 4 year old cancer survivor, Gracelyn was next in the boat and like her brothers she caught lots of fish. Her farewell was "bye bye fishy, see you next year when you're bigger". we finished the day with 29 crappie and gills and 2 bass that Brantley wanted to eat as well as lots of good memories that will last for years. Thanks to vbottom for sharing his boat with us. Name: PXL_20250721_131746256.jpg

Jeff was charter captain/photographer on this trip. We had my 93 year old mother over for fresh fish, sweet potato fries and blueberry cobbler (fresh picked berry's compliments of the grandkids) and the kids were excited to share "their" fish with grandma. Before dinner CJ told us that fish was disgusting but after he tried the first fillet we couldn't keep him off the table going after more. He put down at least 6 fillets, not bad for a skinny little runt.
