Check the trout regulations CLOSELY. Not sure about the Boardman but the Manistee used to have different rules depending on where you were on the river. Some sections are flies only, I don't think you can even have live bait with you. I think that most of the funky rules were for farther upstream, up in the M-66/ M-72 area. Not sure about down in the Mesick area.
