......is what we were hoping for. We got to Randall Lake in Coldwater about 9am with the temp 27 degrees and to our surprise, found the lake partially skimmed over with ice. We started working the shore line with minnows under bobbers with no success, Next we tried slow trolling plastics along the drop off, still nothing. We marked fish in a 12' bay and anchored up and fished minnows and red worms under bobbers, nothing. Next, it was into shallow dark bottomed canals, nothing. We trolled a secret spot showed to me by, well I can't say by who because I CAN keep a secret. Nothing. We were going to hit the southern most lake in the chain where the water is shallower but couldn't get to it because of skim ice. We ended up docking at a restaurant and having a sandwich and coffee before we loaded up and headed home.
Very few minnows and worms were harmed in this adventure.
Water temp was 37 when we got there and 39 when we left.
Jeff did have a couple of light bites on worms, we saw tons of cool ducks and we had the lake to ourselves. The rubens we ate were pretty good and even though we didn't catch any fish, it was a good day on the water.
