I got the boat out of storage, loaded up the Engels, couple rods and had my friend Don meet up with me at Duck lake near Springport. Mostly to try out the trolling motor, make sure everything worked ok.
I stopped at the bait shop/store and got bait in the Engel live bait cooler and snacks/beverages for the drybox/cooler.
The docks weren’t in yet and the water was like glass.... it just didn’t seem like ice should be gone this early in March.
Test and tune went great, everything worked as it should.....except the fish!
We tried minnows and plastics and still nothing would bite, we did see a nearby boat land a couple perch.
It felt good to be on the open water......better knowing everything is ready for another year on the water.
