Raining here today. Man, I've got cabin fever.
Both anxious & nervous is the best way I can explain it. Not nervous about money but just about filling my time. And maybe about not being around my coworkers/friends any longer. I've worked in a coal fired power plant basically my entire adult life. Really was just a kid when I started. It's all I know as far as work goes. Don't get me wrong starting there early in life & sticking with it is what is allowing me to leave now also. It's been a great place to work. At one time I was the youngest one there & now of course I'm one of the oldest. Which means most/about all of the guys that I turned wrenches with are gone now. I've had a salaried position for about the last ten years contracting work & purchasing things we needed to keep it running. Which put me in contact with lots of people. My wife & I keep to ourselves here on the farm for the most part. I told her I will need some kind of interaction with people. My buddies who have left recently said that was the hardest part. Not being around the guys is what I will miss.
Sorry for the rant.....
I will say I'm looking forward to warmer weather so I can get outside and do stuff. Won't be long. This Wednesday is my last work day & I fly to Florida Monday to fish Okeechobee for 9 days. Really looking forward to it. Haven't fished since December.
Maybe that's what's wrong with me.:fish
Not a rant, I enjoy reading what you did and how you feel as retirement is almost here for you.
My wife retires in 4 years, I’ll never retire.....but when she is able we plan on getting out of the cold and become snowbirds.
Maybe on your calendar of things to do, you could make a trip up here in June to our crappie camp.

Thanks for the invite. And I do hope to attend a few c.com camps in the future. I may possibly be in your territory in June anyhow. I have a few buddies who have fished/camped/stayed in the Hessel area of the UP for years and years. It was always their family vacation spot. Now they take the families up in the summer for vacation but they also do a couple of man trips a year & fish for Pike & Smallmouth in the grass beds around the Cedarville area. I went up several years ago for a week & we had a blast. I've got a standing invitation again this year but not sure if I can go or not at this point. They are going up sometime in June & it looks like my wife will be going south with her sister to celebrate a high school graduation with a niece in June. I've been on so may fishing trips over the years that she wouldn't/didn't go on I told her to go & have a good time. So I may be batching it for a week in June. Not sure of exact dates yet. What part of Michigan is the camp in this year?
Here is a link that should tell you everything so far.
