Good thing about the wood stove is that its at LEAST Willing to catch the wood you are throwing at it.........
If it takes swat at a log, and throws it to the ground, your in trouble..............

In other news, Sklillet was over last night. While on the Bay, we tested a 24 hour marinate of some Jerky I was testing.
It was good, but to quote Jerry admonishing Steve, I could do better..........

So, Last night, we tested a Full marinate (3 Days) of my Maple Whisky Venison Jerky. The second batch I have attempted was AWESOME, or at least the drool, and mumbling about fishing, and rod building, and what ever we could understand between bites, proved it to be so, as anticipated.

If a Sheriff would have drove by and looked through my kitchen windows, they might have thought we were fighting, head nodding, drool, arms flailing for another chunk of Jerky.

While we are we talked with our mouths full, disregard all rules of politeness, and ate dang near a WHOLE BATCH, that had just came out of the smoker. The flavor, and pepper give it a robust appeal, and any beer, even a bad one like Steele Reserve would be made better while washing it down. (That beer SUCKS by the way) We grabbed one of the kids holiday beers instead. Free beer is still good beer...........

Kevin had to go, he was full and about to explode, the rest of the batch, was placed in a bag, and I added more, Enough that he wont need any for a bit, and enough that my kids looked at me crooked wondering how I ate so much.

The biggest thing about the Jerky that Kevin likes, is that there is NO SALT.

& what am I doing today, making more..............

If anyone wants a Maple Whiskey Jerky Recipe to tinker with, let me know.
