Steve, whats an old guy like you doing up so early? Don't you need your beauty sleep?![]()

Although I do need "beauty" sleep, it's always been my habit to get up early. When I was a young un, dad would knock on my door to wake me up for work......he better not have to knock twice! His morning greeting was always the same, "It's daylight in the swamp Steve, time to make the donuts"! Donuts were not what he meant, it was time to get up feed the 300 head of cattle, then start whatever else was the "season' on the farm.
Now that I am older and don't "have" to get up early, I still do.
So,.......you're missing your beauty sleep too I see.![]()
I gave up on the beauty thing years ago. Now the chicks dig me for my witty banter and superior intelligence. Also for my modesty.
You got that right flyier
I usually start work around 8:00 am, since I'm a early riser I'll get my coffee, go outside load any tools I'll need for the day and wait for the hired hand to show up. It's nice to have a hour or so to just have that "me" time, as it's called. Some mornings I just enjoy watching the sun come up with coffee in hand and reflect on the beauty around me. Some mornings there is 6 turkeys out in my field, sometimes there is deer, but there is always something to stop and take in the beauty of what the good Lord created and for what I am thankful for.
Although I have added an hour to my "beauty sleep", I still wake up by 6 am even in retirement. It's a bit nippy to sit out on the deck with my mug o' joe just now, but when the weather warms that's where you'll find me. Having the woods backed up to the back yard makes for some interesting viewing in the wee hours of the morn. Love that time of the day.
