Over the last few years I have made it a point to set aside one out of every three or four fishing trips to just go fishing. No video, no, or very few, photos, just me and the fish. Well today just happened to be that day. Now the we have moved to the Houghton Lake area, and are 45 miles from Wixom Lake where I have lived the past 11 years, I have not had the chance to get down there. This afternoon I had to take my son down to the Beaverton area, and figured rather than driving back home for a few hours while waiting for him, I might just as well make it my first trip of the season to Wixom Lake. I fished from 1:30 to 5:30 and ended the day with 53 specks, 17 gills, 9 rock bass, and 7 smallmouth. From the time I arrived at the area I wanted to fish, just a 10 minute paddle from the landing, I was on fish and it didn't matter what technique I used. Long lining, trolling, dipping wood and rip rap, and working docks all produced specks in the 7 1/2 to 11 inch range. Of course, for those who know me, my lure of choice was a micro jig and soft plastic combo, both with and without a bobber. I couldn't have asked for a better four hours on the water.![]()
It is not about the equipment you have to use,
It is about how you use the equipment you have. :Dyankee doodler LIKED above post
Great report, I can't think of a better way to have spent your down time while waiting.
