It's been a while since I've been on this forum.....
My son and I have been talking about doing a "fish camp" for a couple years now but it never happened with work schedules (mostly mine) Now we both have weekends off and would like to join in with you all so I'll be following this thread to see where you pick.
What was the date you chose?
Steve
Thanks, I'll watch for information regarding reservations.
Steve,
We are pretty sure it will be Hardy pond. It will be June 6th as Don Mentioned. We are just trying to Iron out whether it will be Sandy Beech Campground or Brower park. Because of the holidays, it has been difficult to get ahold of anyone. I will be trying again next week in the hopes of locking down a block of campsites
No answer again yesterday at Sandy, I'll try again today.
Got someone to answer at Sandy today. She said call back after January 2nd.
So i guess we try again in a few days. :popcorn
A couple questions.
Are we allowed to bring in our own firewood? Are there different sizes of camping areas? I will be tent camping but need a place to park my pickup and boat trailer.
At sandy there are many size sites. With only one tent, I'm sure you could just put it up on someone's site. There is extra overflow parking for rigs and boat trailers.
Sweet thx Al!

you can get a good idea of Sand Beach layout. I think if we can try to reserve sites down at the south end we could accommodate most everyone's needs. There are a couple of cabins down there. The pavilion is down there if we choose to rent/use that, and the boat launch is also there. Just my :twocents.
South end looks like a perfect fit, my .02
When I talked to the lady, I expressed interest in getting our group together in the area of pull through sites 168-176, as well as the area of the rustic sites 113-117. My family is shooting for one of the two cabins right there as well. Plus I asked if we could reserve the pavilion for Saturday afternon and evening.
She said we should be able to work that out, I just have to wait to tomorrow to call and set it up.
Thanks for the planning on this one Al.
Let me know the price of the pavilion so Kevin and I can get that monies set aside. I'm up in the air on weather I want a cabin or to tent camp. I'm hoping that we don't have many snow days this year. Last year, my daughter had to go back to school the following Monday for one last day. This year, I am hoping to leave Crappie camp and head directly to Bay De Noc in the UP for 10 or so days.
That's great Al. Thanks for jumping in on this, it makes the planning much easier. I think the pavilion is a good bet no matter what the weather does.
Talked to Kim today. She said they dont do discounts, but she can get us all together.
She said go on line to reserve your site, or call Kim 231-652-9298 option number 4, pull through sites 167-176 are set aside for us.
She said you may get a "red error message" when reserving online(I.T. Problem on their end), but it has been saved and is complete, you just wont get a recipt. You can call if you need a recipt and she will email you one.
The tent sites/primitive area is a first come area. So you can call and reserve them.
Any questions let me know.
My family has the Oak cabin.
We also secured the Pavillion for saturday evening/night.
All the cabins sleep 6 and were $60 a night.
When will they let us reserve a campsite?
As of this afternoon.
Do you know the cost of the tent campsites?
The primitive/tent sites look like 16$ per night, with a 5$ reservation fee online.
all prices listed on the right side bar on this page: http://www.countyofnewaygo.com/ParksAndRecreation.aspx
You can reserve your sites on this page: http://www.countyofnewaygo.com/ParksAndRecreation.aspx
Sandy Beach County Park
Friday June 5 - Sunday June 7 (or whatever dates you choose)
Site 176 on the end. 06/01 thru 06/07. Yeah, gonna make a week of it. I did get the "red screen", but it showed up on at my bank within 1/2 hour of making reservation and I just printed the confirmation page.
My son (Chris) and I have primitive site #113 reserved. Be there Friday evening and leaving on Sunday. Barring a unforeseen event i.e. wedding, death in the family or winning the mega millions we will be there.
For the ones that may not know the water on that end of the pond watch out for the shallow bar that runs out from the north end of the park, they normally have a buoy out there
If needed I could add a picture
Happy New Year to all
Just made our reservation. Sites look nice. Hope we have a crowd like at Houghton Lake, but a little warmer and calmer ....LOL
Were in.
168 or 175?
167
Who's on what site? Were on 167 Thur. 4th.- Sun. 7th.
We are on 175 Thursday to Sunday
We(wife, daughter, old man, mom, and I) are in Oak Cabin, Fri-Sun
The site next to you was taken already. I opted for an end site like you got. Having never been there I didn;t know much about the campground. I hope I picked a good site.
I tried to make a cabin reservation today but Kim will be out until tomorrow. Hopefully, I get a cabin, if not, I'll be tent camping as usual!
