Trim the motor up until just before it starts to porpoise and you will get more top speed out of it. Or make the old man go on a diet!
That boat is very similar to my dad's. Handles the water really nice.

Yea we had the motor most the way down. The goal of the day was getting running, and learn how it feels. The top speed thing isn't a priority to me, it was just funny. The father in laws boat, we used at crappie camp, would go end for end in this lake in about 3.5 minutes. We did it in the new ride in a 45 count. So it's an upgrade none the less.
I think I might go hit the river and do some fishing tonight.
Just figured out that my onboard charger is the cause of my two bad batteries in the last few months, what a bummer!! Well that's ok I'll send it back to the company and have it repaired, well not so quick, the model I opted for (the lower priced one) they don't do repairs on. If only I would have spent the extra 70 bucks:banghead:banghead. So now I gotta get a new unit, won't be cheaping out on the next one.
Kevin,
Look at "Dual Pro" sold at Cabelas. Both my dad and I have two bank chargers and we have had good luck with them. They also have a three bank, 6 amp per bank charger as well. Really reasonably priced. Dual sorce charger that will charge wet cell or AGM (at the same time).
Hey rich that's the one that can't be repaired, I'm going to stay with that brand just go to the next model up 2 bank 10amp per bank, plus it has led's so you can monitor battery charge
Skillet... Were you out on the Grand River around west river drive? I just seen a nice lund similar to yours, with a gentleman fishing all by himself under the bridge. I was out that way trying my hand at a few steelhead. I seen the boat when I was leaving just a few minutes ago
Fished Murry Lake today. Trolled for some Pike/Musky, then tossed some RoadRunners for the Crappie. We caught nothing. We were only out there about 1.5 hrs.
I tried to get the old man on a diet. Told him to drink light beer. But he's a PBR man, and those beers arent light.
So, we tried to trim the motor. Sure enough, we hit 40 with him in the boat.(which means I could have easily done 60 with out him:Rofl)
Thanks for the tip. This is the first motor I've ever had that had trim and tilt. I've got lots to learn.
