good job Jim!!!
you will get a few steaks out of that one!
Great Job Jimmy...
Funny how My name seems to keep coming up. Got a Message from Aaron yesterday saying that you guys went fishing. I see some downriggers in your future!!!
Nice job jimmy
I've had them all.. Cannon, Walker, Scotty, and Big John.
Hands down, my favorites were the Big John's. Get the ones with the boom extensions and multiple pullies. These are designed to either go straight out the back, at a 45, or 90 degrees to the boat. Some people don't know, but not all riggers are designed to be run 90 degrees to the boat. At any rate, the reason why I like these are: They have a longer boom and will clear when run straight out the back (even if the riggers are inside of your boat to operate your gear). They have several different upgrades that can be done (cannon ball holder plate is one). You can purchase a set of swiveling rod holders and have as many as 3 on one rigger. Great even if you do not use all of them on your riggers as you can utilize the holders for slide divers, dipsy divers, lead core, and so on. Lastly, and my FAVORITE feature, they allow you to tilt the arm of the rigger verticle. This is a huge deal when trailering with riggers in place, moving from location to location and so on.
As for rod holders.... "Great Lakes" holders are all I reccommend for salmon and steelhead. You don't see them on the East side of the state but they are extremely popular on the west!
Always fun to try new things!
Were to go this weekend
Charity Island and see if I can bang up my new prop I put on last night
Lake Michigan for some perch
Muskegon lake for some walleye
Stay home and do yard work
Tough decision
Jimmy,
Try Erie for perch. Run straight out of SSP and shut down about a mile from the Ohio boarder. Use your sonar to find em as you make your way towards the boarder. Once there, head North. You will find them. Another good spot is the entrance of the shipping channel to the River. There is a light house.
Ended up staying around home
went to Hardy saturday for one small eye
Today went down to Gun and finally broke out my crappie rods, well at least one, guess i let my other ones home
Found some nice eaters hanging around steep drop offs, it you went shallow you would catch dinks
Abby and I are in the Soo pre-fishing. Made it out for a couple hours tonight. Two pike and a respectable walleye. You gotta start someplace! Hopefully find their breakfast table tomorrow and put a few more gps marks on the screen for the weekend.
Was out on Gun lake last night drowning some crawlers and ran into some violator in a blue Lund wish I had a camera as some of you may of seen him before
Came home with no fish
I'll have to ask that violator about the boat lurking near him. We had a discussion about your mystery boat.

Rub the inside of a banana peeling on the blisters until they are covered over,Dries it up in a few days or less.Works for me
I am ready to try anything , will just have to remember to stay away from the monkey cage
Buy a bottle of Technu. Bath with it. Dries it up in a couple days. Can get it from walmart/walgreens. Get the liquid for bathing and the spray for itch relief.
Awesome question even if the reason why sucks. Always good to hear remedies of things like this. Been fortunate to never have a reaction to the stuff yet. Key word... yet
I never had a problem with it till last year , now I can't even pet the dog if he has been in the woods.
maybe it is from rubbing banana peels on my body. Have you ever noticed on every Starship there are no seatbelts......
I just got over a bad case. Technu didn't help, nor did IvyDry or anything else over counter. I ended up with a steroid from the doc and had to take two rounds of it before the crud was all gone. Good luck.
Got the shot , started steroid pack , prescription topical cream . this stuff is not letting up . My late brother-in-law used to scrub the areas with Lava soap ,then pour rubbing alcohol over it, then calamine lotion . tried the banana peel ,no luck let it stay on till turned brown, washed re applied this stuff just hangs tough..Grandmother used Phell's Naphta soap ,lather up good, rinse , make a baking soda paste..also used soap for washing out mouths, taste awfull. DID NOT GUSS AROUND GRANDMOTHER.
Boy, you got it bad! Sorry for that. Wife got into some a number of years ago and it morphed into a thing that made her face puff up and look like something from a horror movie. She ended up going to U of M and had a bunch of tests. Can't remember what the final prognosis was, but it was no longer poison ivy. Hope you don't have that much trouble getting rid of it.

Got a lesson in fishing ; Brother and I challenged a friend and a relative to an fishing contest . got beat like a toy drum. Lesson learned " DO NOT CHALLANGE THE GUYS WHO FISH A LAKE REGULARLY" never seen men catch pan fish like they were . Emberassing when you get a cell phone call asking if you want some fish cause they had limited out and wanted to keep fishing a little while longer.
watching leaves floating bye ,and drifted back to my first fishing days , and then the equipment. starting with the Cane pole with briaded Dacron line big snap swivel and an Eagle Claw snelled hook , then was allowed to try Grand Dads Phellugar bait caster(still have) ,steel rod ,metal an cork handle, no free spool , love the ruby red jewel bearings , talk about back lash. Next step dad got a Zebbco 33 with Monofillament line, fiberglass pole; luckily he had a Hula Popper on it as when he told me to relise the button, I let go of the pole. next improvement a Carcia Mitchel 300 with 2 spools, so out of balance when reeled fast wobbled like a dog shake'n of water ,fiberglass rod , monofilament. first gear of my own a Zebbco 33 Combo.(still have it). Good to flash back. But the new stuff sure is easier on the arms.
Were moved into house in Indiana, trying to get plates on boat trailers here is a paaaaaaaaaaaain!! They act like since your from another state you must have stolen that trailer and plate. I half to send for a title for both trailers. Just a way to get into your pocket.
I fished Patoka lake a few times, great lake for crappie once you figure it out.
was always a pain to get a sticker for the boat, most states do not require us out of staters to purchase stickers, but they did.
Another Lake St. Clair beating; left before sunrise , got caught in stop an go traffic on I-96 ; made it to the ramp ready to go as the man at the bait shop said the Perch an Walleye were on fire and sold us 2 dozen emerald shiners and several Jars of Gulp minnows. weather man said winds would e LIGHT AND VERIABLE as we headed the 17Ft, ski boat across the bay to the middle channel were the Perch are waiting to jump in the boat. The wind decided to blow! next thing we did was vote to head for the Clinton river., several miles ,could not get a bite. turned around ,now wave are 3 Ft white caps . Water splashing over the wind shield drenching us , had to hold the boat back to keep waves from washing it into the concret ramp. The Sea Gulls circled waiting for the old fisherman to dump the minnows. NO fish caught. Nothing . If I ever go back to St. Clair it will be with Guide.
adding on to St. Clair trip ; water temp. 51 degress water visibility 3 foot in marinas ; 1-2 Ft Clinton river ; areas of main lake 4-5 Ft. even threw spinner baits , rattle traps, bomber cranks , Medussa an bull dog musky lures. it was a bad day for catching. I good day to be with my brother.
Mind wandering; remembered to back before the modern electronics ,even the depth flashers . When I tried to locate fish by taking water temperatures at different depths to find the comfort zone temperature and depth for the species I was after . Then fish the cover or structure on a lake map at that depth. eliminating water needed to be covered.... Modern electronics are amazing!
