Something tells me i need a new Fishfinder and i will be able to catch more fish
liking the touch screens, probably go with my old standby Lowrance although i'm looking at Garmin
Anyone know someone using a Garmin
I believe the only negative part using a Garmin is you cant run contour lines with you TM

Garner also does not support any other mapping than their own..no 3rd party maps, Navionics, Lakemaster, etc ..must look at what lakes that you fish and see if Garmin has maps up to your standards..but you can make your own maps with their new charting app coming out soon..would be a good thing, if of course you need or want that sort of capability..the new Garmin's are quite impressive, and $$$, but all the new stuff is costly..as far as following contours, only Lakemaster maps followed..I have areas that I fish, that the LM map is crap..very generic..my Nav. are better in places, but Minn-Kota/Humminbird contour following couldn't be done..YMMV.........bill
Thaks Bill good information
I asked our electronic fish finder expert(BBG) this question and he told me to to stay with my Lowrance , I never mentioned Hummingbird so you folks running birds don't get riled up :biggrin
The bird is the word.....lol
I had the Helix 5 Combo. Didn't like it much. I have had several "Birds" that I did like. I have the old FL8 for ice fishing. Never any problems, and I can't hardly ice fish without it. Myself? If a unit shows the depth and the fish? A lot of the rest of it is just spending money. That's just my $.02 worth.

Upgraded to the fl-18 two years ago. What an improvement over my old fl-8! Never was able to see fish in deep water, say pushing 40' on Jordon, but the zoom shows everything. I couldn't be happier.
Man I screwedthat post up
Some thoughts..sort of a sad day..our last day in AZ..tomorrow we leave for home..we're going to stay south to ALA and then turn north :biggrin it has been wonderful, both here and SoCal..friends and family says all that needs to be said, 'eh? will take our time returning to MI. Dee has to see the hip replacement folks when we get back..she def needs a new one..she says that she will out walk me after..gonna stop in NM and see one of our daughters for while, I got kids all over the country LOL hoping for an early spring!!! bill and dee
Be safe driving back Bill. Will be good to see you safe home again.
It's been quite a week.
My mother is a alzheimers patient and we have her at a local facility that deals with this disease, we had to admit her to a hospital for a bad infection and aspirated pneumonia Wednesday night. Hopefully they release her today so I'm off to the hospital this morning.
My wife got sick Thursday morning, so I was needed at home for her.
I go in tomorrow to have a wisdom tooth pulled and possibly the molar next to it pulled.
Bad things only happen in 3's, right?
Tough week bud. Will be praying all is well.
Michigan is currently a lot like Florida, or some other warm state. You should be find when you and Dee get back!
Sorry to hear about your mom Steve. I know the feeling about 3's. I've been under the weather the last three days (chest congestion, head cold) and then yesterday my wife fell and broke her wrist. I wish I could say it was on the ice in front of some store that neglected to salt or something crazy like that however it was while she was Roller Skating with Abby!
Sorry to hear the bad news Rich.
Good news here regarding my tooth extraction. I had been putting it off for years, it was a impacted wisdom tooth my previous dentist had been telling me for years I needed to get pulled it was bad was gonna require surgery, $$$$$, yada yada yada...... I switched dentists about 3 years ago and this (new) dentist told me that when it began to hurt, get it pulled then.
He pulled it this morning, no surgery just numbed it, cut it in half and pulled it.....$160.00 and I'm outta there. I don't hurt either.
I'd highly recommend him to anyone in the Lansing area.
I need a good dentist, but Lansing a bit far for me. :)
I need to go fishing...
Me too. Sag bay is open....hmmm
Tough week for sure, Steve. Sorry to hear about your mom, hope all is well. At least the thing with the teeth worked out.
Kevin be sure you have a friend who's boat has enough horsepower to pull you off the ice ! lol Boy do I have the fishing itch
We got the itch too. If it was to get warmer, and I took the shrink wrap off the "toon'? There would be a Miracle Healing going on....
:biggrin Amazing how good things bring out the best in people. I wouldn't open that present just yet. 17 degrees this morning at my house. Guys are itching (some actually fishing the bay). It will be one of those "you should have been here" moments. Not really something you can plan on doing. Sheet ice will blow in or start forming.
I have a little saying during times like this..... I'm not taking my boat, but we can take yours! :Rofl
Amen Rich !
Were a ways from uncovering it. Sandy has been talking about how she would get on it when the time comes. She's making great progress. Doesn't use the walker around the house much. She has an xray of what they did in her back if I can get it on here. She has 8 screws and they replaced 3 vertebrates.
Larry, sounds like her surgery was a success. So glad shes doing very well.
HOME..rolled in 'bout 12:30 today..Dee and I are tired , but doing OK. Unpacked the truck, and turned the heat up :biggrin. You should see the mail! Gonna take a while to sort for sure. I see that we are supposed to have some nasty weather on the morrow, not what I was lookin' for, but it comes with the territory eh'. We have dodged two months of winter, so it shouldn't be too bad..LOL.Have to get ready to go out to eat now..no food in house. Had to come now..doctor appts. are Tues. and Dee is out of meds. Hope all of you are well, will catch up later. 5
Glad to see you're home safe Bill. Tell Dee we say "hey".
A friend of mine asked me if I'd like to buy his boat since he was upgrading. It's a Tracker Magna 17, comes with a 115 (not pictured) it's a bit dirty but I'm sure a good cleaning will take care of it. I just bought a gently used minn kota terrova 55 I-pilot ($500.00)for it from my son's friend who is also upgrading.
This friend of mine asked me if I'd be willing to trade my labor for the boat......installing 8 square of siding on his house and he'd be my cut man.
I think I got the steal of a lifetime.

I should have added this to the previous post:
I'll be selling this in case anyone knows someone who could use a 14' Sea King, 10 hp Sea Horse motor, trailer with new tires and a spare, trolling motor, anchor oars, seats.
Edit: Motor pictured is not the one for sale.

I'd say you got a pretty darn good deal.
Sounds like a win win to me. You got a nice boat, and he got a top notch builder.
So, when are we taking a road trip to install siding? Can we take a "fishing" side detour? Will we need ice fishing gear or trolling gear?
Is it time to get my boat out yet?
It's -12 here this morning.
Boat....ice auger...,.,boat......ice auger... It's definitely ice auger today but I've seen a number of days in the next 10 that are predicted to be in the high 30's up to and including 40.
