When you say steering cable what exactly are we talking about, the part that runs thru the tube or the part connecting the motor?

Did you pull the nut on port side of the motor off and loosened the starboard nut? I could not get my cable out unless I pulled the engine off of the boat. Many are set up this way the cable is so stiff it won`t bend enough to be pulled out.

Yea i took the nut off but still nothing. I finally gave in and took it to the shop. The guy had to cut it in half and really beat it out.
