I would do a google search on that, there's a company that does that very same thing using composite boards I just can't remember the websites address or the company's name, sorry...

Need to replace bunk & guide on boards. Is the composite type deck boards suitable? 2x4x9' is what is on for the bunk boards currently. Heavy enough not to warp? Want something that will last. Found a composite on either bass pro or cabelas, not long enough though. Would save money if I went lumberyard instead of B.P. or cabelas! Rofl

Ideal for Boat Lifts !
They look good, but I have no firsthand knowledge.
have read pros and cons about using the composite boards, some say there is too much flex in 'em but if you put some support under the part that flexes, then ok. guess it would depend on how your mounting brackets are spaced out and if there is enough support for your boat, etc.

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.
Stopped by local lumberyard today, was going to price composite boards, 4x4 plastic sleeves, etc. Told them it was for bunk board covers, they said treated wood has been reformulated. It is now safe for contact with aluminum. Anyone else heard similar?
Wilbur: would love to put those boards on, can't justify that much $ at this time. In the long run, yes they would be better.
I've read the PT wood treatment was changed, but still don't think it's safe in the long term to use on a tin hull. You can do some more research on tinboats.net, and I think I read some comments on thehulltruth.com as well. I just replaced my bunks this year, and use regular 2x4's, painted 'em with 2 coats of paint, put the carpet on and bolted 'em on. The damage done by PT wood is not immediate, it takes a few years, and then its done before you know it. Those pin holes created will ruin the boat for sure.
