My bunks are rotted as well as the carpet. I have an aluminum boat so Standard PT wood and carpet are out with the copper in the PT wood. So I considered using the teflon slicks at $40.00 best I could find and looked for other options. Gonna be the Guinea pig for ya'll, might ba to rednecky for some and certainly not intended for a nice glass boat. But for someone like me with a simple jon this might be to your liking. I headed to Lowes and picked up 2 - 10'X2"X4"'s PT and 2- 10' pieces of solid core sch40 PVC, stainless fasteners, 2 reflectors and galvanized lag screws for under the $40.00 cost of teflon slick sticks.
Cut the 2X4's down to 9'11&3/4" and fastened them inside the PVC with Stainless screws

I left the 1/2" so I had room for reflectors inside the bunks. The holes were to small for screws, so I used the tiny nails provided with a little liquid nail for security.

Next I notched the areas for the mounts

Then bolted them on with 1&1/2" lag screws

Previuosly my bunks were 1' short of the back of the boat. I wanted more support and also wanted to be able to launch and retrieve in shallower water so I extended the bunks 40" past my trailer frame, which is why I wanted the reflectors. Also adds a little protection from the people behind me at red lights that tend to creep up and sometimes bump the motor, hopefully no more.

Boat sure slid on easy for being dry when I slid her back on.Now I have a full 7' of my hull supported instead of 4' with a foot of boat overhanging the bunks. I will get a chance to try it out on the water this weekend and will report back, if interested.
