    I've had the hook pull outward, causing to miss hook sets, but I don't recall a hook breaking like that unless it was repeated snagged on stumps and rebent. Most of the time, I've lost the jigs or end up changing over enough to not have weakened and dull hooks.
    If I'm not at work or taking kids to their activities, you might find me on "The Rez" fishing. If not there, I could be in the garage working on my boat.

    I break them right there fairly often , it is for sure because of too many fish on one jig , it seems where the barb is formed, it creates a weak spot , and after digging them out of bones in the head it sometimes breaks off right there.
    one large bass or catfish will often do it by themselves , catfish are especially hard on sickle hooks
