It's clear that many folks think that sniping (targeting individual fish) is the only way to use livescope. It's not the way I use it at all because staring at a screen would drive me crazy. I use it to locate fish and cast or pitch to them. Once I locate them I only briefly look at the screen to verify the location of the fish. Sniping fish is just one method of using livescope. I would certainly agree that it is not a method for everyone.
If i hadn't bought a livescope unit i wouldn't be crappie fishing.
I love the scope, now I have using it for about a year now, yea it’s got its up and downs.
I absolutely hate the sore neck i get from it.![]()
I liked it so well LS forced me to sell all my long trolling rods and reels and go back to one pole fishing where you see and feel the thump again in most cases in open water fishing. Thick grass fishing is still an art and LS won’t help.

It's not the numbers or the size, it's the time spent on the water!bbrown549 LIKED above post
I see the screen shots people post up. I just don’t think I want to stare at the TV with the funny pictures on it. Oh look…..a dot.
Maybe later when they come out with the $6,800.00 version.
Maybe they will bite this one……SpeckledSlab LIKED above post
Well just call me a Luddite, a technophobe and also a poor person. Admittedly I have never used LS so I have no experience to rely on. But there has been several mentions here about significantly higher catch rates using it. If that is what is most important to you then go for it as long as it isn't destroying the fishery. I prefer finding the fish with my rod and reel. I definitely catch less than other folks. But it is still 1000% better than relaxing on the couch. I wish I could get out more than I do.
I don't have the budget to spend on high dollar electronics even if I wanted to. I don't have 20 or thirty expensive rods and reels either just a few fairly decent pieces of equipment that work just fine. I don't need any electronic hand holding to make them work.
Yeah, I describe myself as "old school". Olde pharte is another way to describe me. At 77 my time on the water is precious to me. I don't want to spend that time playing video games.
