    To the original question. 40 feet is too close. That fella had his bow in the sky in heavy cruiser mode about 15mph. He was scanning to see what I was catching I guess. I took high marks in that deck surfing exhibition when those rollers mad it to me. He was friendly and waving the whole time. He was over a crappie hole when I left out. I idled by leaving no wake

    love them folks that go by slowly with the bow up about 20 feet in the air , waving and acting like they are doing ya a favor ....

    better yet is them ones that run up at ya full tilt on top of the water and then kill it about 40 yards out ....
    there really ain't a better wake them those there ones .....
