It would be nice if you could just upgrade your 987 with the software changes instead of having to buy another unit. But that is not an option. I really enjoy using mine.
Richard they say we will be able to upgrade ours to zoom in on the screen when you freeze it.
You know that was one reason I bought mine. Under stood it would be able to be upgraded with what ever came along..
Still think they should be able to upgrade the 987c-SI's And we could buy the new transducer. But guess that would have been way to hard for them to do.
I think I will just wait and see what the other companys come out with.. Bet it will be nice. LOL

Hey Pete,
Maybe one of these days, they will make a soft ware version that will put side imaging on any of the units. That would be nice. But if they did that, one of us, either you or me would have to show Todd who to use it. LOL
Have a 997C-SI on the way. Hope it arrives in time to get it installed for this weekend. Really looking forward to trying it.
Richard You know Todd is a lost cause.. LOLQuote:

If you have questions ablout Side Imaging feel free to email me [email protected] I do offer on-the-water instructional training (small fee) and perfrom many demos for Humminbird around the country. Side Imaging is very addictive - It's hard to fish when you find all the awesome things under the surface.
Glad to see you join up here Doug, I wouldnt think you would have time for us between the BBC and yahoo group.
Yeah - I'm a little swamped between the other forums and tournaments. But I wanted to offer my resources to the Crappie.com Forum too. I can't check here everyday but the best way if you have direct questions is to ask through the SI group or direct to my email: [email protected] or visit my website and it has contact info too www.dougvahrenberg.com
The side imaging technology is not affected at all by murky water, in the dark, saltwater or fresh water. The beam is more like a MRI beam compared to normal sonar beams. We have numerous Search and Rescue Units using this technology to find drowning victims in all kinds of water conditions.
