Side imaging

I just bought an old 17' Bass Tracker that I am going to refurbish, stick all my good stuff on from my current rig. Then do a complete refurb on the 15.5' fiberglass, paint and new seats included. I should be able to sell my old rig for a 2k profit. I think I will invest the profit into a 997 unit. I'll post pics of my project from start to finish. I have seen too many posts about these units and I just can't stand it anymore!

I totally agree with you TAE73.
Side imaging no matter what size screen is very useful.

I have a 987C which does not have all the features that the new ones have but it is still better than a non sideimaging unit. Thats my thinking.

Jim glad you are enjoying the unit. But as soon as someone gets to see one on the water. There hooked. Shoot i could even sell these things..
Or should i say I have sold around 50 units . LOL
But have not seen a thing from Humminbird for that. You would think they would at least send me a new 997 to show off also.:D

I am glad to see you guys getting into this technology. Wasn't too long ago a member here was chastising me for fish targeting. haha

Ain't technology grand. Now we need a stimulus underwater raido beam. Yep. Target a fish, zap it with a radio ray beam. Make the fish angry. Wiggle jig. Wham!!! A FISH Tazer!

Better yet just make a black box. that will cause them to feed.

Just got off the phone with Cabellas, which have layaway, 4 monthly instalments @ $550.00. OH what to do what to do? What I am I going to tell my wife? May wait a while and see if the price comes down.

I wished I had known that!
Maybe I will talk my wife into having 2 sonar/GPS on my console? I doubt it, but I will probably try at some point.

Maybe I can scrimp and save on my jigs and get one, but that will take a lot of time and I am not a patient type on buying stuff.

I have a 997 on the console and a 797 on the trolling motor. And I will have to say that if I had to choose between one or the other one, it would be the 997 hands down. If all I had was the 797, it would be a great unit. But you can see the 997 much much better. I had a problem with my 997 and have to send it back to Humminbird. I had to use the 797 all day today. Like I said, the 797 is a great unit, but the 997 is the best.
