Do you use a backing with your Braid?

Well I realize that! Just kinda figuring that someone probably wouldn't want to use 20# mono to back 2# Braid on a 1000 size reel. So I was wondering how close in diameter of the Braid do they try to get with the mono backing.

Maybe I needed to word my post differently.
