Deer, turkey, squirrels, or fish, I am out there trying to beat mother nature at her game and in her back yard. I can buy fish. I don't look down on anyone
using Live Scope if it is a method of fishing that they enjoy, I'm not worried about all the fish disappearing because of it. This what our Fish & Game
departments are for. If I were a guide or tournament fisherman I would have to have one or be left behind. I lived and breathed turkey hunting for 30
years and quit when it got easy and my stomach quit getting wheezy and knees getting weak. I still go and watch them once in a while. Sit and watch
and go over hunts of the past. Fish on, any legal way you want to. I'll be out there.
    Tell'em I'll be there.

I have fished with it quite a bit since the first of April. When I first started with it I was catching a few and the lake I fish most often had a pretty good stain. Since then I am not catching much at all and where I have been fishing the water has become pretty clear. I can see the trees and brush piles and the schools of shad and some big fish that I think are catfish and bass but have had very little luck with the crappie. I can't find any on trees or brush piles and I am beginning to think that it probably has some to do with the clear water. With that being said I still can't imagine that I wouldn't have ran across at least one mentally challenged crappie that would hold at least until I could see him swim away. I am still blown away every time I go out with the LS as it really still excites me to see what it is able to show. I have watched so many youtube videos with most everyone just slaying them on trees, brush piles and also just roaming fish. I am not a quitter and I will not throw in the towel. One video I watched showed an individual just slaying them right on top of a brush pile and he said as long as it is over 10 foot deep then you shouldn't spook the fish. The ones that I have found are between 15 and 25 foot deep. Still plugging away.

You also have to remember that they don't always hold on cover ... sometimes they're out in open water, following Shad schools out on the flats.

Personally, i love the livescope. I caught a lot fish before livescope and catch a lot with livescope but i do catch fish now that i wouldnt have before livescope. It could make an impact on fisheries IF people have the mind set that they got to keep every legal fish they catch. When i go fishing i dont go to get away from anything or to just get on the water. I go to catch as many fish as i can or testing new colors or styles of jigs..but 99.9% of the fish i catch are released back in.

    Default Live scope question

I’ve had it about a year and a half.
    It’s taught me a lot!!!!!!
I have laughed more having livescope and watching the fish, than should be legal.

I am catching less fish than I did before livescope.
That is my choice, now it’s like deer hunting.
    Is it big enough?
Do I want to chase it?
Doesn’t mean it will bite, necessarily.

I prefer to keep fish in the 10-12” range for personal eating or giving away.

I like watching the 2# or bigger swim away.

It is just really neat! Remember though I am a 5 year old at heart, and easily entertained.

On my home lake, if you get to close or mess up, they will leave the country!
That’s because my home lake is fairly clear.

I am not bashing, the original poster asked people's thoughts on it and I bit. It is one of the neatest things I have ever seen. I am just not sure its good for fishing and personally am very conflicted about it. I really enjoyed tournament fishing before it became popular and now if I want to continue I am forced to use a tool that I think is maybe too much and removes skills that were necessary before. Didn't mean to ruffle your feathers.

My comment was not directed at you personally. Didn't mean to ruffle your feathers. The Livescope-bashing gets very tiresome, and is mostly based on ignorance of the system and/or how it works.

If you are referring to the trouble with operation or current performance issues folks are experiencing I would somewhat agree. But I really believe Garmin is having hardware issues with some of transducers. There are several guys that have been running it for 1-2 years with top quality professional installs having major trouble now. And one I know that has won multiple tournaments(didn't do the latest updates either)that probably knows it as well as anyone that is having major issues as well. I have personally seen the dead spot on my tournament partners setup with old software too and it wasn't there when he first installed it. It is plain as day on stakebeds we build and fish. While I agree there is a percentage that are bad install/voltage/lack of understanding there is also a major issue going on as well.

Just keep hearing negative comments . I love my live scope. Have caught more big fish than ever . I release some , beginning to worry about too much fishing pressure, Right now read our Game and Fish Commission has looked at the issue and not concerned .
