Default Pulled the trigger on a jigging rod

I searched and read and read what you all had to say and got a jigging setup yesterday. Funds are limited so I settled on a Shakespeare Crappie hunter 9' combo. It's a light with I think moderate action. Small reel and has 4lb Stren pre-spooled on it so I can use it without having to get more line and spool it up. I'll eventually change the line to either copolymer or fluorocarbon. I'm excited to use it and hope it helps get out into that brush farther and make a vertical presentation!!

I been looking at them. Over the years I have become a fan of my Shakespeare's. They now make a "wild series" that seem to be pretty good. Been waiting on a kitchen pass to pull the trigger my self. You might appreciate some good ole cheap hi-vis line. Congratulations and I hope you get that sucker "bent in" soon.

Shakespeare makes some good rods. You can dockshoot forever with their Micro light series rods. Tough as nails. Then there is the unstoppable Ugly STIK. Enjoy your new rod.

Enjoy it, I always liked the learning curve of a new rod. I have a SHSS 10’ and was not on board when I won it, even tried to sell it. Wouldn’t take anything for it now. I’ve whacked some 2lb plus crappie in close quarters with it and it excelled. You’ll go through the same thing, have a good time.

Shake my spears are a favorite of mine , I have a garage full of them . I love the 7 footers and have a bud that just whacks the fire out of crappie with one paired up with a Shimano reel , you might know him ….he goes by SK
I use them from medium heavy 7 ft one pc. for salt water and sockeye all the way down to 5 ultralite and have a bunch in my arsenal including a Barbie pole that has killed more fish than most people will ever see on a single rod and reel , and yes we still use it after 4 years of owning it . I carry a 5 6 Gx series in my back seat at all times as well .
Lots of fish have fallen victim to me with a shake my spear in hand for sure . heck one year we did a series on spider rigging with shake my spears …..we all used the spider man children's version on lake Palestine and just filled the boat with slabs ,because you see some take it more serious than others
luck to ya with the new hunting dog , hurt some lips for me with it
