I've never sharpened a hook. Got this image in my mind I find kind of funny though. I have a small 1" sander, mount's on a table. Great for sharpening tools. You could take it along with a 2000 watt generator to sharpen hook's. Or, it would take up less space, in the boat, but a long extension cord reaching back to the dock might work!

I've seen those hand held sharpener's for hooks but never seen one out of a store! Sharpening a hook seem's a bit frugal to me I mean, how much does a hook cost? I see a guy in a $20k boat saving money by sharpening a hook! I guess I should mention I seldom spend much on hooks, have a ton of inex,,,,cheap one's now. But recently bought some of those circle type hooks, look like they are just the thing for bait fishing but wonder. Shoot I've been using old style hooks all my miserable life! This got me to thinking. If I really need a circle hook, how in the world did I ever catch a trout with single egg hooks? In the end, I think we all over think a whole lot of thing's. Guy lose's a fish at the boat and blames it on a dull hook. How do we come up with that? Maybe the fish just spit it out!

I know of a guy, nice guy, that swear's the only way to filet a crappie is with an electric knife. I don't have one so am stuck with my old junk Rapala's! What came first, the crappie or the electric filet knife. Wonder what cave men sharpened their hooks with? Oh well, the though of some of these thing's just hit a funny bone in me. I'll go back to my room now! :-)
