I do know a male that colors up big time after it comes out of the water is typically from stress and really don't indicate much to me other than something folks seem to not understand in that if he is like that he can turn that on in a quick second while he is still in the water if he needs to .

Thats surprising. All I knew about the numbers was that the first one was a Tommy Tutone song and the 2nd one is Pi.

Depending on the size of the body of water, not all females spawn at the same time as well as different areas of the lake the fish will spawn at different times as well. Weather patterns also affect and can slow down the spawning cycle causing a longer spawning season.

Lotsa opinions on what and when the crappie do during the two or three months during spawning.....
I'm wondering what they do when I'm out there pounding'um when everybody else is in their a/c or in front of their fireplace..... you know most of the year......
Right now it's simple so don't complicate it......
The other times of the year is what should be talked about.....IMO

Not at all were I try'n to belittle your question, just that this time of year is the easiest, get in the shallows, minnas, jigs, spinner baits, crank baits and just about any other bait will put crappie in your boat...
If you can find back waters with deep water close is the best and if the areas have structure even better....
Move fast fish slow, 5mins no bite move but within that 5mins if you're a jig fisherman try several different colors as I've found it can make a big difference this time of year and at the same time make no difference...I prefer having 4 or 5 poles rigged up so I don't have to be constantly re-tying.....
You do these things I promise you will catch crappie on any lake right now.....

Just one more thing change is big with these fish and it happens sometimes hourly, daily, weekly or monthly but one thing that you must accept is these fish are gonna change..... The only figuring out with these fish are at the moment you're on the lake.....
A Big question mark is on my forehead all day long while on the lake....
