My favorite slip floats are the ones I find on the bank or floating in the lakemost of which are various sizes of styrofoam body & plastic center quill with the spring line holder. I simply remove the center quill/spring part & use the styrofoam body. I figure I'm cleaning up the environment & recycling/re-purposing.
And yes I do have some Thill slip floats that I did buy, once upon a time. But, to be quite honest about it, I rarely use "floats/bobbers" of any kind when Crappie fishing. Mostly I use floats of various kinds when fishing for Trout or Catfish at the local park lakes that are stocked by the KDFWR.
I have tried a bunch of different ones and i always come back to the basic red and white comal foam cigar float, the only thing I change up about them is I put a peg in the top and bottom of the float to keep the line from cutting into the foam.![]()
Thill stealth waggler, or thill pro weighted. The weighted is better for casting.
Thanks, everyone, for the votes and orders!
They're either on the way or they will be tomorrow.
BTW, CrappiePappy - I have had several loyal customers tell me that if they break off an ESB, they will pull anchor and retrieve it rather than let it goI think that's pretty good.
I have some thill but I’d like to try the ESB. The one I’ve seen seemed nice but I wasn’t able to use it.
Hope they are good ordered 12 for myself and 2 buddies
I ordered some too.
I preffer the balsa wood slip bobber it helps with casting distance and is super sensitive
