It’s the season yawl , to start thinking about it. Some places in the US will start very soon . I know a spot or 2 that will give up spawning black crappie in February and I am in north Texas.
So look back at your records on when and where and be there around that same time ,same place this year as much as you can .
Big crappie of both species often are the first arrivals and I don’t know many folks that don’t like a big crappie.
Just a quick tip for those of you that want that crappie of your dreams . Some of the big females will be at their heaviest weights of the year and you never know when that fish will be on your line . So I also suggest to go up on line size a bit and use a bit stouter than you typically use rod . Reel fast and get her out of the water as fast as you can ,big ones have a tendency to stay in the water ....
Losing a giant crappie can ruin a person ....just saying
