You may have found the flaw in my plan that i hadn't thought about. My swivel seat is mounted on the middle bench seat, and there is some distance to the front bow deck. I had thought I would mount the T-bar base as far back on the front deck as i could toward the bench seat. I had planned on using 14' rods, so hoped the tips would still be out in front of the boat far enough to not spook the fish, when I was in shallower water. I have some nine and ten foot jig poles I use for jigging and hope that the 14s might have a little longer butt too. I imagine I will have to lean forward, while doing this technique, and doubt this will be my main way of fishing, because I love to have the rod in hand. Just have seen some friends do well with tight-lining with several rods and thought i would give it a try. I'm going to have to borrow a 14ft pole from a buddy and see if its going to be too far a reach...thanks for slowing my roll...till I know it will work for me.

This would have been a better idea, but my seat is mounted on the bench...going to do some more measuring and see if I can reach the holders, or whether I better stick with casting and vertical jigging like I have been doing. Thanks for the reply

What brand and set up do y'all like that is affordable and durable. I want the potential to use eight rods. I am sitting down in the boat not on top of it "bass style", so I don't need a real tall set up.

    Thanks so much

If I might be so bold as to offer a suggestion that might save the skin on a knuckle or two :

turn the bolts around and put the wingnuts "under" the crossbar.

They may not be the cheapest but I have never had to do anything with mine but figure out where I wanted to use them that day and go to it. If you buy before looking into these you would be doing yourself a disservice. The extreme version has high sides and I have had 10lb catfish hit my rods pointing 90* out the side of the boat and they don't come out of the holder. I'm sold.
I second the Hi Teks. I've had them on my last three boats and have always been satisfied with them.

I have Hi-Tech but they did not come with the BIG knob for adjusting, I'm guessing that is something you added? Where would one find those at?

    I bought mine online from McMaster-Carr : https://www.mcmaster.com/#catalog/124/2272/=1c2fipd

I have Hi-Tek rod holders, so I bought the studded knobs to fit it :
The big knobs I have under each rod holder are a (part number 2454K53 ) - 1/16"-18 x 1.5" threaded stud 2.5" diameter.
    The small knobs I have on the top of the T-bar are a (part number 2454K67 ) - 5/16" - 18 x 1.5" threaded stud 1.75" diameter.

Look around on their website ... they have many different styles/sizes of knobs. If you set your holders and leave them, the knobs I chose would work fine. If you are constantly adjusting the holders (angle vs rod length) then a smaller knob or one with three lobes (& bigger lobes) might be a better option. Hand tightening them to the max depends on hand/wrist strength ... so I put a split lock washer on each knob to help hold them in place, since my 70yo hands/wrists don't have a whole lot of power left in them.
