[QUOTE=skunked again;3330990]Please explain. Do you have a troll motor on The side of the boat?[/QUOT

I fish from a pontoon and use the big motor (60hp 4cycle) to troll with, it idles 2.3mph which is a little fast but have been satisfied with my catch my first year pushing cranks.

I fish with 14 12 10ft rods with in line 3oz wt by Scotty V method with 300 Bandits at different depths using the chart to determine the depth at 45 degree angle.

What size crank do you use with the 2/3 depth chart? 200? 300? A 300 on a 5' leader would run a bit deep than a 200?

    If I used a 200 bandit with a 3 oz with15' of line out = 10' deep?

Thanks Speck. I long line a lot but want to try pushing this summer. I wonder if I could use 300s and a smaller weight like a 2 oz. since I can troll way slower.

I don't have enough experience to advise anyone other than what work this year for me. However can advise you when the water tem. 70+ push and have fun.

I have pull cranks for a few years but like pushing much better.

The weight really doesn't matter, it works with whatever weight just takes more line out with less weight. I use 1 oz weights and have a chart up to 27 feet deep, have caught fish that deep and catch a lot at 20 foot deep, something I really would have not thought possible a few years ago.

But are you still at a 45 degree or way back?

No, not at 45 degree. I run at 1.6 mph most of the time. 55 foot back will put ya around 20 foot deep so that is not a lot of line to be running that deep.

Never thought of pushing rattle traps. Gonna try that.

The good news is their calling for 60° here Sunday. I've already been told -NO- your not going on Christmas day! I replied, we can start a new family tradition!!! Didn't get any love that night
