Take a pair of needle nose pliers and mash the barb down flat and then remove jig from said socks and slide a knife back under barb and raise back up. Been there, done that...

"Team Overalls"
Cut the sock, pack the boat, re-marry.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
Tell her what happened and have her get the jig out of her sock. If she gets mad tell her it's her fault for not checking the pockets of your clothes before doing the laundry.

Hypothetically, buy her dinner out at her favorite restaurant and tell her the story....
of how wore out her favorite socks were and that you bought her new ones with matching shoes and purse. lol
Dude, man up, she WILL find out. and then it won't be pretty.

Quick, someone teach me how to fish so I can win this tournament!!!
I got a bunch of laughs at all the different options you suggested. I am sure they all went through your head while trying to decide what to do. You were probably in the DOG HOUSE with any thing you could say, so you might as well save the jigs and take you lumps.
If you dont have time to do it right the first time, when are you going to find time time to fix it.
why take any grief for a jig, cut the jig save the sock, done deal. if you dont tell her thats ok no foul no harm done and you can get plenty more jigs.
