    Glad I was able to help - bookmark that website - if you are dealing with a 36 year old outboard you will need it. I know because I have an '85 Evinrude 50HP

    lol your right on that, and it doesn't help there is nobody really works on the older ones and if they do it costs a fortune.

    You are correct, the big marinas seldom want to work on the older machines. The key is to find a small independent shop NOT near the lake and NOT in a new building on a main drag. I found a guy who retired from one of the big marinas around here (I live near Kentucky Lake) who works out of his house out in the farm country. He is reasonable but has some quirks - like he wants cash - no credit cards or checks. For what he charges I will do as he wishes.

    Yeah I'd rather do maintenance on the old one, it gets me to the fish lol. The new ones are like buying a car lol.
