Swimming a jig whether trolling or casting I prefer Southern Pro Hot Grubs or Charlie Brewer Sliders, Vertical fishing or under a cork Southern Pro Tubes of various styles and sizes.
1. Paddle Tail grubs (Charlie Brewer's Slider Grubs specifically)
2. Tubes
If I am not casting to cover then I am vertically jigging or fishing a jig under a bobber. Truth be told I prefer a marabou jig to tubes but that isn't plastic.

Two inch curly tail grub on a roadrunner head. Every heard your son say he's tired of catching fish? Happens.
Welcome aboard!
Every situation/seasonal period is different. You definitely should carry a selection of each type of plastics and let the fish tell you what they want on any given day.
However, as of the past 3 seasons, I've been straying away from curly tails and tubes more & more; and going for my stinger/straight tailed plastics instead. I particularly like the Bobby Garland Baby Shads, but brand doesn't usually guarantee you anything. I just find that this general body design produces more consistently in most weather/water conditions.
And, if I go to an action tail, chances are pretty good it will be be a Charlie Brewer's Slider Grub (paddle tail design). These too, seem to produce more than the curly tails as of late. Best advice: get a selection of each type in various colors and if you are not catchin' start switchin'.![]()

Thank You Everyone for you replies. I finally got out and caught a few. I got them on a shad body with a curly tail. Two on two cast and then nothing, but it was sure nice to get them on artificials. I surely will be picking up some other types of lure that you all mentioned
