"Pushing" jigs (to me) is simply using long rods, added weights, a jig on a leader, and moving at more than 0.5mph .... which, in my case is three 14' rods with 1/2oz or 3/4oz weights above my jigs.
The general consensus is that if you're using weights + rods are out the front of the boat + you're moving at a faster speed than you would if you were "Spider Rigging" ... then you're "pushing". If the rods are out the side or back, and everything else is the same ... then you're "pulling".
I favor the stinger shad style bodies because I can use them in most any of the methods of fishing that I generally use : pushing, casting, jigging, dock shooting.
BTW ... your La. brothers got Slabeye to make a whole set of Slabanator jig bodies in Louisiana colors & combos:
The Louisiana line.......saint......cosmic Blast.....spicy chicken........Cajun.......ragin cajun..........bayou tiger
And I've done good on Cosmic Blast, way up here in KY
