As long as you're not dragging lures behind the boat there shouldn't be a problem.

I have thought about getting one for my 17 basstracker. I was just wondering how much they scared the fish?

I have fished in as shallow as 4 fow pulling a drift sock behind me was able to catch fish.
Be careful if you fish when its cold. Wiskers had a friend slip and fall in the lake because some water would spill out of the sock onto the deck and it froze.
Good thing they saw him in the water and helped him out.

Has anyone ever used plastic buckets instead? I saw a video on youtube that mentioned that.
We use to use a bucket had problems with it sinking. So we took a pool noodle around half of the lip of the bucket and that helped.
Take your bucket, use a hole saw, cut about a 2 in hole in the middle of the bottom, then abut 5 1in hole around the outside. Take the handle off and bore about a 1/2 in hole just below the lip. Run a 3-4 got piece of rope through it and tie knot, then take side away from knot and pull it out and tie a overhand not to form a loop in the one piece of line. That gives you a point for attaching a clip. Run ta 8-10 ft behind boat. Make 2 one for each side they work good just storage is issue.

I fish from a Bass Tracker pt175 (17.7ft aluminum) I use 2 buckets when its breezy and a 54" drift sock when its 10mph+, I've never had any trouble with the buckets sinking though. Also I will endorse Amish outfitters socks too, I saw them this weekend at a show, they were well built and reasonably priced
