Default Not air fried but delish

Tonight instead of frying yesterday’s catch I grilled them on top of the stove on a griddle. I sprinkled them with a little blackening seasoning and put them on. No butter as I didn’t want to smoke up the house as in true blackening. They came out great and even my finicky son in law approved. It’s a great alternative to frying and probably a little more healthy. We also had some white beans with smoked ham hocks over rice and home grown beets fresh out the garden.

I blackened some in the house last night. I forgotten that the wife has a fancy alarm that calls if it detects smoke. Guess what Monroe fire department shows up.

If'n you ain't tried fresh beets then you don't have any idea what they are suppose to taste like. Nothing like the can stuff.

Every beet I've ever tried tasted like dirt. Some tasted like dirt with a whole lot of sugar in it. I'm a farm boy and grew up eating vegetables and still do, but I gotta draw the line at beets.....
