My experience has been just the opposite. Several years ago my wife gave me a Rapala electric knife that I hate. It struggles to filet a crappie. I guess it's either a dud or just a bad model. It's the one that can be powered by 12v DC or 110v AC depending on the power cord used.
I don't fish for crappie very often and I keep very few bass so I've gotten by with a cheap Academy store brand knife which works better than the weak Rapala I have. It looks like prefers shiners has the Rapala Heavy-Duty Electric Filet Knife. I may have to get one once I figure out how to catch them crappies.
