Shallow and stumpy. Lots of rebarb in the stumps just under the surface. Take it slow and easy.

I am going to make a trip to Kepler lake this week. I've never fished it, does any one have advice on it. Sent

If you launch at the Public Launch by the Dam, leave no valuables in your truck. This area has been famous for thieves for years and they still prevail!
Theives and prickly stumps...think I'll pass.

On most lakes you look for standing timber near/in deeper water - Well this is the whole lake! There is a channel - very poorly marked - Ive caught a few nice this time of year slow trolling in front of the dam. I have no doubt that theres nice fish in there. But finding them is tough. Just from my experiences anyways.
Heres a shot the last time it was drawn down - About a year ago(?) This is after launching at the dam and heading down the channel - which you can see with the water down. The dam is directly behind me. As you can see - when the water is at normal pool - those stumps are right below the surface. Unless you are very familiar with the lake - make sure your motor idles good cause thats all you ought to be doing on that lake.![]()
We were gator hunting, busted two aluminum props on a 115. Second prop (new) broke on its first trip out.
Luckily I have a mud motor, I fished all day yesterday, caught a couple bass and a perch or two. Very tough to find some structure that stood out from all the other stumps. Next trip I will try a semi spider rig around the dam.
If the water is high enough you can put in at the bridge. Most people do pretty good there for crappie.
