I've found the 6lb clear Spider Wire EZ mono (discontinued) but able to find in some places works best for me when single poling/casting with my 7ft ultra light; easy casting and very strong.
I recently started trying to slow troll with 4 rods and found 10lb Mr. Crappie mono/camo works pretty good; thin but very strong.

Just switched to 6lb Berkeley nanofil on my ultralight and I'm loving it. I can throw a small jig or light lure a pretty long way. Haven't fished it much but the little bit I used it seemed like it was about as sensitive as the braid I have on my saltwater rod. Use 8lb Stren on my jigging pole.
I use Capps and Coleman rigs. The wire hook will straighten and drop a gar with a wrist flick. You can recurl with your hands, and will stay closed on a three pound white perch. If you get a tangle you can put new rigs on in seconds, ( I have a swivel above the rig) and deal with the mess when things are slow, and you have all your lines in.
I have rarely have had a gar in my boat.
One thing to remember is with any given line test you will be actually fishing with a lower line test than labeled much of the time.Between the knot and some nicked or abraded section of line much of the time 6 is actually 4 and 8 is actually 6.

10/2 Power Pro Slick in fluorescent here. I like the braid, it's very thin and I can see it well. Zero memory and zero stretch.
I tried to find them eagle claw extra light wire hooks and i cant find them all i can find is the light wire but I was told capps and colman rig has extra light wire anyone know if there is such a hook made by eagle claw?Quote:

And that's all I fished in the last 6 years. If anyone wants to test. Tie the sting to your boat and get a digital scale and tie the other end of the string and pull till it breaks. And see the lb
