I took it as a compliment PS. It's most likely just luck. If that fish decided to take off there would be nothing I could have done to stop em.

I can hear JB fusing at me for not doing something right. Elbow in, etc.

the cheap plastic reel that comes with his pole. The bottom section was JB's but I've got a top section from one of my Slater poles. Being on a fixed income I gotta patch and piece my tackle together.

WoW JR, using that lil plastic reel makes it even a greater feat. That's what I like about the Solo reel, it has a drag and can save your fingers from being cut by the line on such a catch if he runs.

I just read this and am trying to figure out the correlation between the grass shrimp and blue and white tube. So from what I understand you saw someone using grass shrimp so you switched to a blue and white tube??? Why ??? Just curious to learn something new maybe.... Thanks for sharing

I can understand a tube jig mimicking a grass shrimp but just more curious about the color.....

That's a huge cat for a crappie rig and jig so that is one heck of a job!

I was and have been for months fishing black/green/chart-use tube.
I tend to keep at what works for me and I like single polling so I get to feel the bump. I keep it simple, no electronics, no live bait, etc.
When I saw the guys dipping grass shrimp I went to the blue and white as that's all I had that was close to mimicking the shrimp
