I think I would like to switch to spinning reels to make it easier to cast accurately without backlash

Yeah its pretty easy, sometimes in poor light its harder to see but for the post part plenty easy. Too u learn to count it from the reel on longer poles, like on my 18s when I want 70 feet out I just let 90 off the reel. It is a different color every 25 foot and them in each 25 foot section marked every 5 foot. Spool them all the same and there is no confusion.

All my bass reels are spinning reels with 50# braid......love them.....the braid does not work good on a bait casting reel.....the line will dig in and embed itself on the spool....I also use spinning reels on some of my 7 ft and 10 ft crappie poles but with 8# mono.....I find the smaller test braid does not cast too good on them....at least for me.....

The rods seem more balanced with the spinning reels compared to the line counters or baitcast

I see a lot of people pulling cranks. I "sorta" tried it a couple of times. I need to learn how and get set up before next summer. Thanks for the post.

Specially the long rods, we are using a couple of 18s.

I dont cast mine.....I let six lines out at the same time when length gets out I turn the reels off. Not worried about balance because just useing them to reel in fish. Works for me.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
