    Default Gonna try something new

Tomorrow I am going to the camp at Hosston to enjoy the long weekend. One thing i enjoy doing is bream fishing off the boat dock. i have heard that alfalfa hay attracts bream. So I took a five gallon plastic pail and drilled a bunch of holes in it, put some weight in it and then filled it with alfalfa cubes. I then put a lid on it and a rope on the bail. I plan on lowering it off the dock and see if it attracts fish. Anyone had any experience with this.

A friend of mine uses cotton seed. He swears by it.

Used to use cotton seed cakes for hoop net bait to catch catfish. Never heard of it working for bream...but there's a lot I don't know, so...hope you catch some! Might actually get out there too in the morning if I can get up early enough.

My understanding is it attracts shrimp which attracts fish. A few well heads around duck lake used to be baited that way for sac au lait. Good luck

Many years ago I would make extra grits at the camp and throw that off the pier - always had bream around there. Never tried or heard about alfalfa but heard a lot about cotton seed cakes.
