when you drop a marker buoy in the water and the weight reaches the bottom, do you have to secure the string on the buoy to keep the wind from unrolling more string, thereby displacing the buoy??

I have the "H" looking ones that I use regular. They only allow line out when the weight is dropping, then stop. I have often wondered about the "dumbbell" looking ones, never have tried them. To me there would be no time to secure the line, because when I pass over a spot I like, I pitch it and move on. Then I come back to it. Just me.
