Thread: How do cold fronts affect the fishing?

If you're a working man like me, you fish every chance you get - I'd do it. In the past couple of years, I have fished in 107 deg. F weather to 28 deg. F weather in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas. There are some folks here that say I don't have my priorities right. My priorities is family, home (and property), work ethics, then fishing. So, when I get a chance to go, I go. My two cents.

Go regardless if you have the chance.

this time of year I don't think it will matter that much. If anything I think it will help. the thing I have found that messes up crappie more than anything is lots of rain and water levels moving up and down really fast. I agree with randy--go anytime you can. you might not catch a box full but you wil learn something that will help ya next time.\

You never know if their biting or not unless you go. Now Bass IMHO are more effected by a cold front then crappie and most of the time it pretty much turns them off. Crappie can get turned of too at times by a cold front, but I don't think as much and besides it's really only one day if it does it's bad magic shut off and by the next day they start getting better and by the 3rd day it's back to normal. I think if it's a big time front and the weather really drops a lot then it may be worse especially if the water temps drop enough. However it's the pressure change that makes the fish shut down if they do. This time of year I also do not think it's as important.
