Default trolling motor advice needed - integrated sonar or not

After about 6 years I am pulling the old boat out and getting her ready for some fishing. The first thing I need to do is replace the trolling motor. I am planning on getting a Minn Kota Powerdrive 55V2. My question is should I get the integrated sonar or not?

hey jeff, man, these trolling motor folks have it figured out. the problem with NOT getting an integrated sonar is that it is very hard to run the wire down the shaft of the trolling motor. they almost force you to get it if it is offered. I just bought the 36V fortrex and I did get mine with the integrated sonar. I talked to Pat at BPS and he said they come with a 2 year warranty. he said normally if they go bad they do so within the warranty period. good luck and do you fish cypress in Benton much??

If you are using down imaging the universal sonar is a waste of money as it doesn't work with down imaging. If you are only using traditional 2d sonar it is worth it.

I got it in my new minnkota and it turned out to be money down the drain.I ended up putting down imaging unit up front.I would say save the money and buy a good transducer mount instead.
