would it look stupid fishing at the chicken coop with one pole????in a small boat?????
Vet. no it would not. However we will watch for winds. Might make sense to trailer over to Texas and launch. There will be more people fishing with rods in there hands than spider rigging.

Lots of folks single pole the Chicken Coop Tal. For a group fish fry though, it helps when guys like Mark (Doc) spider rig and bring in 40+ fish a day. Like Danny says, we'll be watching the wind as well. This is my favorite wind forecaster site:

Where do you guys launch on the Texas side?

PPG, I launch at the one just over the bridge on the right(hwy 6) if the wind is out of the west. It's about a 3 mile run to the Coop from there heading north. I believe there is a marina called Holly Park that launches near the coop, but heard it's crowded with limited parking when the crappie are biting. To get to it, you cross the bridge and several miles into Texas you take hwy 87 north. Turn right on E. Carters Ferry rd and it's on the left as you get close to the lake. Skip feel free to help out with this. Danny

Holly Park coming from La. you just keep going on what in Texas is Hwy 21 and after the speed limit changes to 70 for a short while you will come to a blinking light which is Hwy 87. Take a right there and go down there until you see Hwy 276 and it take off to the right and ends at Holly Park. 276 is several miles down 87 before you get to the turn.
Thanks for the directions. I don't know if I'm bringing my boat yet.

we'll see when the time comes but I'd like to give it a shot.....
