    Smile River Bottom Crappie

Mud, mosquitoes, snakes , weeds and ticks. We had to deal with all these just to catch some fish and we enjoyed every minute of it. The river has been falling out big time this week. So me and the old man decided to do a little bank fishing today. We used minnows and were fishing about 2 ft deep. Ended up with 29-30 crappie (10-13.5" ) and 10 catfish (kept 6 cats). Dad caught most of his fish but I lost several, that's not unusual for me :o. We had a great trip today! Even had 2 of the catfish jump straight up out of the water when setting the hook on them, very unusual.

The old man still gets excited when he catches a couple!

I was a muddy mess but happy!

Those are some good looking river fish. I am looking for jobs in your area so I can get down where there is an abundance of lakes. I love river fishing but the water is so high where we fish on the mississipi I can't see the stumps that I have to navigate around in the sloughs.
