Exclamation Let's step up guys & gals

As most of you have already heard Feb 28' (this Saturday) Kdfw is looking for some fishermen to help supply brood stock for their Crappie stocking program.

I believe that they are gonna make a good effort to make this program work. Many of us have complained about the crappie fishing for the last few years and now it's time to put your money where your mouth is. Let's all try and make it to one of the locations (Blood River or Little River) and donate a day to a great cause. It will be your last day to get your money's worth out of those fish'n lic. They will expire at mid night that night. :D If 100 people show up and we just average 2 fish a piece that's 200 fish for the program. That's a lota eggs folks.

Sure it's gonna be tuff fish'n. Probably cold & maybe raining. Tail end of a cold front. You name it the odds are stacked against us but there are some things we can do to make it a success. Numbers is the key. If we get out there & somebody gets on fish... Spread the word. If I find fish you can bet everybody's gonna know. :D

Wouldn't it be great to be able to tell your kids and grandkids that you were in on the ground floor of this project.

Come on guys. Take 1 day and fish for a good cause!

Sounds like yall are gonna have some help at Blood. Since they only have 2 so far for Little River I'm leaning on going over there to help. It's about the same drive for me one way or the other.

Man have you seen the weather? It's gonna suck. Test of a true dedicated crappie fisherman.

I'm def. gonna fish one or the other. Ky. plays LSU that day but I don't thinks I can stomach watch'n another butt whipp'n like they took lastnight.

    Good luck to you guys.

It looks like you are going to need it judging by the weather forecast. Accuweather is calling for 30mph wind gusts with up to 3" of snow.

Looking at the extended forecast, I see that the weather is up to it's usual once again. Terrible weather on the weekends and beautiful weather during the week. It never fails.

Yep, everytime I look at the weather the forecast gets worse & worse. 30 MPH winds are not good this time of year. Somebody could get hurt. I've fished in some pretty bad weather but that's about my limit.

I've said I'm gonna fish but I have a family to think of too. They need to reschedual this thing for next weekend.

If they rescedule let everyone know.I can't make it this weekend due to work and the weather doesn't looks good anyways but could possibly make it next weekend. It's a 200 mile drive but I'm due to make a trip down there and this would give me an excuse to go.

I was going to come fish saturday, but after seeing the weather forecast today I decided I wasn't going to drive 125 miles to take a chance at getting hurt. Thats a little to much wind for me.

In the wake of the recovery of the last 2 young men that lost their lives recently in darn near the same conditions, I don't believe that it would 1. be a very responsible move and 2. Send a very good message to other boaters. I asked myself, If you really wanted to go fish'n bad and that was the only day you could go, would ya? My answer to myself was... ARE YOU FRICKEN CRAZY?:D So I'm personally going back on what I previously posted and encouraging others not to get out in that stuff. Gotta remember, you're not only dealing with bad conditions on the water and boat ramps, but you'll be pull'n a boat on possibly bad roads. Go over a slick bridge pull'n a boat & let a 30+ MPH gust of wind hit the boat & see if ya don't break a pucker string! You won't be able to drive a thumbtac in you fanny with a wreck'n ball!

Exclamation I agree with you, Wiskers ....

and I had hoped that Mr Rister would have responded already, and cancelled & rescheduled the event.

Has anyone sent a email to Mr Rister, inquiring about any changes in the date of this program ?? I don't see how, with the forecast calling for rain/snow & NNE 17-25mph winds ... following a warm day w/thunderstorms ... they really expect to wind up with any number of anglers, much less have them catch enough brood stock Crappie to make the venture productive or cost effective. It would seem to be a better alternative to postpone such an event, until more favorable conditons are present. Seems like, to me, that going ahead under these conditions would create bad press ... and even more so, if any accidents should occur to any participants, due to the prevailing conditions.

I understand that they want to harvest White Crappie for their program, and they want them to not have spawned .... but, White Crappie, in my KY/Barkley Lake experience, aren't spawning until early to mid April, at the earliest. It's not even MARCH, yet ... what's the rush ??

    ... cp
