    Default weekend of oct.26

Me and the family are coming down to Ky lake on that weekend. Was wondering if anyone could share any tips. Also what anyone would guess the water temp would be that weekend.

Water temps SHOULD be in the mid 60's with this weather who knows. The fish should be located on the creek channels around brush or stake beds. If this is your first trip and you are going to be here for a while it would pay huge dividends to hire one of the local guides for at least a half a day. I like to use jigs but they still bite minnows. Jig colors that are good producers for me are any shade of green, pumpkin, green, red, green and white and blue. Did I mention green. 1/16 ounce head is the easiest for me work with. I am sure some of the other regulars will add a lot of other stuff. Where are you staying and how long will you be here? Got a boat, what size etc......?

the way this weather has been, it would be hard to guess. The drought and hot weather is going to break one of these days and the rains will come, but if you wait for the perfert weather forcast you may never go fishing. The water temp should be favorable for some good crappie fishing by then. You didn't say if you are familiar with KY lake or not. If not, it would be wise to do like the "Bandit" says and hire a guide for a trip or two. Just remember that 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water.

Just returned from Ky Lake today 10/13. Tough fishing right now. First of the week we found fish in 10 - 12' along banks with water dropping of to 14 or better. Fish were "deep" in the brush. Rest of the week was rough. Winds out of the North NE. Fish are scattered but still found a few as noted above. Water temps went from high 70's but fell to 70 by Friday with the North wind as it was. Caught fish on minnows, tubes (green/yellow/char. No luck around docks. Shad were starting to move into the bays. You may just hit it right!!!!!! Good Luck
