You're right about the depth. I think the only advantage that the piers would have is current. This time of year the fish depend on a little current to consentrate the bait fish and most of the piers on that old bridge are in and on the edge of the channel. I know that Ky lock has been running a little water during the day say around 18000 cfs. Pickwick usually runs upto around 80000 cfs during the day and then cuts off at night. That push of water should be causing a little current during the night.
