I live close by taylorsville lake. Grew up fishing this lake. The last 2-3 years this lake has been fished harder than I've ever seen. Noticing that a there are more and more license plates from out of state. This is the power of the internet. Soon as one person catches a limit of nice crappie and post it to the internet the whole state and surrounding states flock to Tville. The last few weeks I've caught maybe 50-70 crappie just fishing a few hours here and there. Only 2 keeprs. Im definitely not an expert crappie fisherman but enjoy being on the water. These crappie tournaments, with experts fishing in them, are weighing in good numbers. I feel like the crappie are there but its going to take a couple more years to produce fish for the average fisherman like myself. Just for an example of how hard the lake was fished last year... People were waiting over an hour to get on and/or leave the lake. At those times I didnt even bother taking the boat out. Fished from the bank and picked up enough crappie for supper. Lol May not be getting many for supper this year. Not sure how fast a crappie will grow but maybe this fall there will be some kept for the table.
